Taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks
In June 2016 my friends lost their baby boy 39 weeks into their pregnancy, in his memory Ernie’s Wish was born.
Ernie’s Wish is a non-profit making organisation, set up to raise funds for the local charities and maternity services that provided much needed and vital support for the family during this very difficult and heartbreaking time.
As well as various other fundraising events that are planned including Ernie’s Big Day, which took place in September, I came up with the idea to get my friends together and rope them into taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks with me.
So in less then a week, 7 thirty something women, including Ernie’s mummy, are taking on the Three Peaks of Yorkshire, Ingleborough, Pen-Y-Ghent and Whernside, which involves walking over 24 miles, 5200 ft of ascent and all in under 12 hours, all to raise money for a cause very close to our hearts. We start in the dark and we finish in the dark.
We would all class ourselves as fairly “unfit”, and to prepare for this challenge we have tried to train as much as possible including a 24 mile walk, climbing Kinder Scout, Jacobs Ladder and we even had a go at Pen-Y-Ghent last week.
It’s a MASSIVE challenge for us and I’ll let you know how we get on next week, with pictures!
