November News Update: Ladbrook
It has been an incredibly busy month at Ladbrook Insurance so we thought we would share some of the highlights!
Support for Nova Wakefield
Earlier in the month, we provided a training day for members of Nova Wakefield, the umbrella organisation for the local voluntary and community sector. The course was ‘An Introduction to Insurance’ and while it was a whistlestop tour of the main issues for community groups to consider, the feedback was very positive.
During the month, we also sponsored the AGM meeting for NOVA and thought their new format was excellent. Wrapping up the formal elements of the meeting early, the Nova team facilitated networking in the format of round table discussions on key issues such as mental health and substance abuse.
The Voluntary Action Rotherham Awards
We were delighted to sponsor the Project category of the awards and can only say that the night was a fantastic success. The feel good factor was at a maximum as VA Rotherham celebrated the very best of the work of the voluntary sector in the borough. The pollen must have been quite high that night too because some folk were certainly dabbing at the eye with a hankerchief!
Thankfully we were a sponsor and not a judge in the project category where three amazing groups were highlighted. Pops Outdoor Adventure Centre, Rotherham Talking Newspaper and Rotherham Samaritans. The videos highlighting the projects were incredibly powerful and in the end, the judges settled on the Samaritans who invaded the stage with an army of volunteers, clearly delighted. All of the finalists should be proud though.
We weer also absolutely delighted for Vicky Berry of our local youth group JADE, who won the Volunteer category. Bravo Vicky – We shall be sending chocs over to the centre to help you all celebrate!
UK Mens Sheds
We were invited to attend the UK Men’s Shed fair in Northampton at the sumptuous Guildhall. Not only were we on hand to provide individual advice to shedders but we also ran two very well attended workshops discussing risk and insurance, specific to the shed community.
We also wrote a guide for the association to look at the need for Trustee Indemnity cover for sheds.

We welcomed over 30 new clients to Ladbrook in November including a high profile London march, a community cafe (with cats!), two community libraries, Men’s Sheds and other community and voluntary groups.
Apart from that, it has been a quiet month!
